Its October and fall is here!
But first let's talk about the yarn
This month one of the yarns you may receive is 2 hanks of "Big Squeeze Bulky" (the colorway I received is called Blue Heron) from Ancient Arts Fibers. We actually have 2 weights this month, the bulky which is a 3-ply, 100% Superwash Merino Wool is spun in Italy from New Zealand Merino Wool. The second is a fingering weight yarn, "Reinvent", made of 49% Wool / 34% Mohair / 11% Nylon / 4% Acrylic / 3% Silk. For that weight you will get 2 skeins of 400 meters / 437 yards per 100 gram / 3.5 oz skein in 2 different colors. But the bulky, is so soft and just wonderful to work with. Each hank contains 127 yards. Needing only around 140 yards for this project you are left with enough to make a hat to match!
The pattern.
The Garter Drop Cowl is basically just that. It is a garter stitch cowl with single and double drop stitches added to give it more texture while still being fairly simple to do but with a look that appears much more advanced. All the techniques are explained in the beginning to end video and PDF. This cozy cowl can be made in an evening or 2 and is a wonderful addition to any outfit on a chilly day.
