Jonathan Berner is the color genius behind MJ Yarns. Each skein is beautifully hand dyed at his studio in Lafayette, Colorado. With his unique process, Jonathan dyes his colors with short color runs to ensure that there's little to no color pooling making the yarn truly variegated.
Narrowing down the choices to provide our members was a challenge but we managed to do it! We selected five of our favorite colorways that we sent out in our shipments. The Peacock colorway is a brand new color from MJ Yarns and we were the very first to get to create with it!
Bright: Midnight Orchid, Peacock, Cerulean Twilight
Muted: PTX, Green Dragon
Each skein of Peruvian Dream Worsted is 50% alpaca, 30% merino wool and 20% silk giving this yarn incredible softness and squish. Totaling 220 yards per skein, our members received 440 yards for their latest projects.
We had the great opportunity to work with two designers who took these skeins and worked them into remarkably exquisite patterns.
For our knit design, fiber artist Benjamin Krudwig created the Nycteris Shawl, a fun pattern that showcases the splendor of the Peruvian Dream Worsted. His teaching skills shine through in this pattern that knitters of all levels will enjoy.
This month’s featured crochet designer is one of our favorites, Denise Lavoie, who gives us her Wyvern Warmer. You’ll love creating this easy to stitch poncho in any of these colorways. Denise and I chatted a bit about the yarn that was headed her way for this pattern and she sketched up the design right away. You’ll love the end result and I know she is just as excited as we are to have you working this up.
An amazing start to the New Year with a most incredible yarn and dyer! Join us on Ravelry where our members are working these and other patterns with their Peruvian Dream Worsted.
